FIRE planner

How to read it

Lean FIRE assumes you live on 70% of today's spending, regular on all of it, fat on 150%. Each target is spending times 25, the flip side of the 4% rule. The blue line is your balance year by year; where it crosses the red dashed line is your regular FIRE date.

Try changing one number at a time. With the defaults, the regular number is $1,000,000 and the wait is about 17 years. Raise the monthly contribution to $4,000 and it drops to about 12. Contribution moves the date far more than a point of extra return does.
